In 2015, Milne competed at the National Championships held in Morwell, Victoria, placing eighth in target and twelfth in short distance events and won the National Para championship. He was selected to compete for Australia at the 2015 Para World Championships in Donaueschingen, Germany, where he would qualify for the 2016 Rio Paralympics if he placed within the top 19. Jonathon placed an impressive fourth, losing the bronze medal match to Great Britain's John Stubbs. As of July 2016, he is ranked number 40 in the world in the men's open compound classification, and is coached by Ricci Cheah. On July 29th, 2016, the Australian Paralympic Committee announced his selection for Rio. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, he won the bronze medal in the Men's Individual Compound - Open. He became Australia's first archery medallist since 1984.
